The Talkative Turtle
Once, there was a talkative turtle named Tom who lived in a lake deep in the forest. He loved to chat with everyone, from tiny ants to giant elephants, but his favorite conversations were with his best friends, a pair of geese named Bo and Mo.
One day, they noticed that the lake was drying up due to a year without rain. Many animals were leaving in search of water, and Bo and Mo decided to leave too. With heavy hearts, they came to say goodbye to Tom.
“Why are you saying goodbye?” Tom asked. “I want to leave too!”
“We’d love to take you with us,” Bo replied sadly, “but you can’t fly. How will you come?”
“Easy! We just need a sturdy log. You can carry it with your beaks, and I’ll hold on with my mouth,” Tom suggested.
Mo frowned, “But Tom, you love to talk. You can’t open your mouth while we’re in the air.”
Tom laughed, “I can be quiet when it matters. Let’s go, it’ll be an adventure!”
The next morning, they set off. Tom was thrilled to see the mountains from above, and even the tall elephants looked small. He wanted to share his excitement, but he remembered Mo’s warning and stayed silent.
As they flew over a village, the villagers saw them and were puzzled. “What’s that?” one shouted. “Is it a ball?” asked another.
Tom wanted to ask what they were talking about, but when he opened his mouth to speak, he dropped straight down, hitting his head on a rock and falling unconscious.
When Tom woke up, he found Bo and Mo beside him. “You fell because you didn’t listen,” Bo explained. “The villagers were kind and took care of you.”
Looking around, Tom saw they were at a beautiful new lake. “Isn’t this a nice place to live?” the geese asked.
But Tom had learned his lesson. He simply nodded, keeping his mouth shut.
